Brand Photoshoot: Brix Cider
Matt and Marie own Brix Cider, a small hard cider business in Mount Horeb, Wisconsin. Together, the couple strives to “make the best cider you have ever tasted, featuring local, sustainably grown ingredients.”
When the pandemic hit in early 2020 and restaurants were closed, Matt and Marie quickly shifted gears and started offering online grocery pickup and delivery orders featuring goods and produce from local businesses. In a time when some small businesses were struggling, Matt and Marie developed an innovative way to support their clients, other local businesses, and their own business – all at the same time!
During our planning and styling Zoom call, we talked about their vision for the photoshoot, how they wanted the images to look and feel and what tasks they wanted to feature in their photos.
From there, we developed a detailed, intentional photoshoot plan that included two locations: a local apple orchard where they would be picking apples and their Brix Cider storefront in downtown Mount Horeb.
Matt and Marie are big on the concepts of community and connection, and they wanted their images to have an intimate, friendly and inviting feel to them.
The orchard portion of the photoshoot included Matt and Marie, along with other family members and friends who work with them to pick apples. We also involved their two children, Teddy and Vera, in some of the photos because family is a key element of their Brix Cider story.
The morning of the photoshoot, Matt and Marie were excited to try a new project – zero-emissions cider! To do this, each of the Brix cider employees took turns biking a crate of apples attached to the back of a bicycle to their store in town – a six-mile round trip!
The second location for the photoshoot was at their store in Mount Horeb. Their beautiful location included the cider-making facility and a tasting room with ciders and a full food menu – all under one roof. It’s also where they packaged their local grocery orders during the pandemic. Our goal for this location was to feature their friendly staff, their variety of crisp, refreshing ciders, and their gorgeous tasting room and outdoor patio.
Matt, Marie, and the entire Brix Cider staff were wonderful to work with! Their can-do attitude during a challenging year was so inspiring. Their images showcase their true love of the land, their business, their community and their family.
